To enroll in the QMHP/BHT/BHT-A Didactic Training Certification, applicants should have a strong interest in behavioral health and meet general qualifications to work in the human services field. While prior experience is not required, this program is designed for individuals pursuing or holding roles such as Qualified Mental Health Professional-Trainee (QMHP-T), Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or BHT-A. A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, and additional background or education in psychology, counseling, or social work is helpful.

Yes. Our training is aligned with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) standards. It meets the educational requirements as outlined in VA Code §§ 54.1-3521 through 3519 and is approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling. Graduates of this program will receive a certification that can be used to apply for DBHDS-recognized roles in Virginia.

Absolutely. We understand that learning is a process. Students who do not pass a module or assessment the first time will be offered remediation support and the opportunity to retake the module. Our goal is to ensure all participants are confident, competent, and fully prepared for the workforce. Support is built into the program for every learner’s success.
